Josh Allen Shares Thoughts on Bills’ First Loss of 2025 Season to Patriots

In a stunning upset on Sunday Night Football, the New England Patriots defeated the previously undefeated Buffalo Bills 23-20 in Week 5, ending Buffalo’s 14-game home winning streak and marking their first loss of the 2025 season. Rookie kicker Andy Borregales sealed the victory with a clutch 52-yard field goal with 15 seconds remaining, after quarterback Drake Maye led a crucial 37-yard drive. The Bills, who entered 4-0, were plagued by self-inflicted errors, committing three turnovers, including two fumbles in the first quarter and an interception by Josh Allen in the red zone.

Despite outgaining New England and controlling time of possession, Buffalo’s sloppy play handed the Patriots momentum, with Stefon Diggs hauling in 10 catches for 146 yards in his return to Highmark Stadium.

Bills Stunned by Patriots in Week 5 Sunday Night Football Upset

While Josh Allen had a decent game, the Bills ending up dropping their Week 5 game against the Pats. After the game, Allen reflected on the Bills’ loss saying, “We just played sloppy. Not gonna win a football game, turning the ball over 3 times in our red zone. Give them one in their red zone. That’s just bad football and we just did not play good tonight.”

The Bills committed three turnovers, two fumbles and an interception, all in the red zone, and racked up 11 penalties for 90 yards, which severely hampered their efforts.

The Patriots capitalized on Buffalo’s errors, with quarterback Drake Maye engineering a decisive 37-yard drive in the final minutes, setting up rookie kicker Andy Borregales for a game-winning field goal.

The Bills play the Atlanta Falcons for Week 6 and will now be on the road for the first time this season. Going into week 6 of the NFL, the Falcons will also be a tough matchup who are coming off a win against the Washington Commanders.
