Jonathan Kuminga Trade Drama Escalates as Kings Enter Race, Warriors Eye Keegan Murray in Exchange

The Golden State Warriors are the only side who haven’t conducted any business in the off season so far. Their Jonathan Kuminga saga has dragged on forever stripping them from making any new additions.

Reports suggest that the Sacramento Kings could make a move for the youngster. The Brooklyn Nets were previously the only team interested in acquiring the promising forward.

However, the Kings are now interested in bringing in the Congo international forward.According to Brett Siegel, the Sacramento Kings are ready to give up Devin Carter, Dario Saric and a protected first-round pick for Kuminga. However, the Warriors are not interested in those players.

Instead, the Warriors are targeting Keegan Murray and Keon Ellis in a sign-and-trade deal for Kuminga. Keegan Murray, a young Kings talent, averaged 12.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists last season.Keon Ellis, another young guard, also impressed off the bench last season with key contributions. He averaged 8.3 points in the previous season.

Both Murray and Ellis are considered as crucial depth options for the Kings and their front office is unlikely to give up both for Kuminga.

Kuminga Refuses Latest Warriors Proposal

Kuminga, meanwhile, has shown no urgency to resolve his future through talks with the Warriors. The 22-year-old remains in no hurry to sign a new deal and has already declined several offers from the Warriors.

ESPN journalist Shams Charania said, “He did tell me though that he is in absolutely no rush on doing a deal with the Warriors right now and he is not accepting their current offers. The Suns and Kings are two teams that have made concrete offers with the Dubs over the last week or so.”

Jonathan Kuminga averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 47 games and 10 starts last season for the Warriors.
