Johni Broome, the former Auburn Tigers’ forward emerged as one of the best players in collegiate basketball. He started his career with the Morehead State Eagles in 2020 and won the OVC Freshman of the Year. He also received the All-OVC First Team honors. In the following season, he averaged 16.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.9 blocks, 1.2 assists and 0.7 steals. With such record, he once again made it to the conference First Team again and added OVC Defensive Player of the Year.

Following the completion of his sophomore year, he transferred to Auburn. In his junior season, he made Second Team All-SEC. However, the 22-year-old reached AP All-American Third Team, First Team All-SEC, SEC All-Defensive Team. He also received the SEC Tournament MVP and Legends Classic MVP honors. The Plant City-born averaged 18.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.1 blocks and 0.9 steals in 30.3 minutes during the final season with the Tigers.

Owing to a staggering record, Broome won the Karl Malone Award and the Pete Newell Big Man Award. In addition to it, he was also All-American First Team, Sporting News Player of the Year, SEC Player of the Year, SEC All-Tournament Team and Maui Invitational MVP.
