Jamir Watkins Draft Projection – Where Will the Florida State Wing Land in the 2025 NBA Draft?

Jamir Watkins is ready to make a statement in the second round of the 2025 NBA draft. The Florida State wing started his career at VCU and spent three seasons. Following an ACL injury, he spent his final two years at Florida State. He made into All-ACC Second Team in his final year in Tallahassee, averaging 17.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.6 steals.

Watkins has an experience of four years in college basketball. He averaged a career-best 18.4 points per game last season at Florida State. The 23-year-old ranked in the top 15 nationally in fouls drawn per 40 minutes. He is on the way to be the first Seminole to be drafted since 2021, joining Scottie Barnes, Balsaa Koprivica and Rai Quan Gray. He was declared to the NBA draft last year but withdrew and returned to Florida State.

Jamir Watkins’ Stats and Accomplishments

Sino James, in the freshman year for VCU, averaged 7.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, 0.7 assists, and 0.9 steals in 26 games with two starts. After missing the entire 2021-22 season due to injury, he came back and averaged 9.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game in final season before entering his name to NCAA transfer portal.

Playing for the Florida State, Watkins dropped a career-high 34 points with 11 rebounds and four steals in the second round of the 2024 ACC tournament. He added 64 steals and 28 blocks in his impressive 2023-24 season and got all-ACC honorable mention. In his final college season, he had one more 30-point outburst followed by 29-point performance.

Jamir Watkins is projected to be an early-second-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. As far as the mock draft goes, John Hollinger of The Athletic put Watkins as the 32nd overall pick, whereas CBS Sports’ Kyle Boone mocked him to be drafted by the Pelicans as the 41st overall pick in the draft.
