Joey Bosa was recently released from the Los Angeles Chargers and is now a free agent. There are multiple teams that will interested in acquiring the five-time pro bowler but the 49ers should be the obvious choice. Joey’s brother, Nick Bosa, plays for the San Francisco 49ers and now that Joey is a free agent, the two pairing up is highly possible.

Letting Bosa walk away has saved the Los Angeles Chargers around $25 million in cap space. He made the Pro-Bowl in 2024 and has only played in 28 games for the past three years. The 29 year old played 9 seasons for the Chargers but has only played in the playoffs three times in his career. It is reported that Joey was primarily released due to his large salary cap and his history with injuries.

Nick and Joey Bosa’s mom Cheryl, also wants the two brothers to unite in the Bay. They were initially teammates when they were in high school but have never played in the NFL together.

In 2023, Nick Bosa spoke to Richard Sherman on his podcast and expressed his desire to play with his brother. Nick said “Joey’s definitely looking good financially, but I think him on the other side would be, kind off… I think it might break the NFL.” To which Sherman confirmed with “it would definitely break the NFL.”
