Jessica Pegula Qualifies for WTA Finals 2025 as Americans Make Up 50% of the Field in Riyadh

Fourth consecutive qualification for the American.

World No. 6 Jessica Pegula has officially qualified for the season-ending 2025 WTA Finals in Riyadh – becoming the sixth player to do so. The American joins Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova and Madison Keys in the player field. With two spots still up for grabs, the USA has already taken up half the qualifying quota at the WTA Finals.

Pegula is currently featuring at the WTA-1000 in Wuhan, where she is through to the semifinals. The 31-year-old defeated Hailey Baptiste and Ekaterina Alexandrova in three sets each to enter the last eight. On Friday, the No. 6 seed pulled off another 2-6 6-0 6-3 comeback against Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic. By virtue of former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina falling to Sabalenka, Pegula completed her qualification.

The 2025 season has been phenomenal for Jessica Pegula. She has a 49-18 record so far – and will be gunning for her 50th win of the campaign when she takes on the World No. 1 in the Wuhan Open semifinals. In terms of victories throughout the year, Pegula trails only Sabalenka and Swiatek. A former US Open runner-up herself, she has won three titles this year – Austin, Charleston and Bad Homburg.

Interestingly, Pegula is the only female player to capture WTA tour-level titles across all three surfaces this year. Having spent the entire season within the Top-8, she was bound to qualify for Riyadh. This season will mark Pegula’s fourth consecutive appearance at the WTA Finals. She qualified for the marquee event between 2022-2024 as well.

In 2022 and 2024, Pegula unfortunately dropped out of the tournament in the Round Robin stage. However, the 2023 edition brought about huge recognition for the American. She overcame the likes of No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and No. 4 Elena Rybakina in the Group Stage, before beating No. 3 Coco Gauff in the semifinals. Taking on No. 2 Iga Swiatek in the summit clash, Pegula was beaten 6-1 6-0.

The WTA Finals in Riyadh will take place between 1 November and 8 November, 2025.
