Tatum's 33 points and 12 rebounds lead Boston to a thrilling 120-117 victory, ending Cleveland's unbeaten start to the season.
The Boston Celtics, led by Jayson Tatum’s 33 points and 12 rebounds, defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 120-117 on Tuesday night, ending the Cavaliers’ 15-game winning streak to start the season.
In the third quarter, Cleveland narrowed a 21-point gap to just two points, and Donovan Mitchell made a rainbow 3-pointer with 24 seconds remaining to bring the lead to four points. Tatum made one free throw, then knocked down Mitchell at the other end, causing the Cavaliers guard to require medical help while lying on the floor.
Mitchell finally went to the foul line and made both free throws. However, Boston inbounded the ball easily and passed it downcourt for a simple Al Horford dunk to secure the win.
Tatum scored six 3-pointers for Boston and contributed seven assists in their third consecutive victory.

Mitchell scored 35 points, while Evan Mobley contributed 22 points and 11 rebounds for the Cavaliers, making them the fourth NBA team to begin the season with a 15-game winning streak in history. The Cavaliers franchise set a new record with its 15-game winning streak.
Cleveland was a pleasant early revelation as the leading team in the Eastern Conference, but it understands that facing Boston in the playoffs will be a tough challenge. The Celtics finished the second quarter strong by scoring 19 out of the last 26 points, extending their lead to 65-48 at halftime.
Cleveland reduced a 21-point disadvantage to just two points in the third quarter. The Celtics made 14 out of 22 three-point shots in the first half. They had a five-point lead with 5:05 remaining when they made four consecutive 3-pointers, and a total of six by the end, extending their halftime advantage to 65-48.
Predicting the future, the Cavaliers’ head coach Atkinson stated: “It’s great for the NBA, right? Everybody is going to be watching, and I know our guys are anxious. I know they remember last year. We’re going well. They’re going well. It’s great for the league. Great for our franchise. We’re excited.”
The Golden State Warriors (2015-16), Houston Rockets (1993-94), and Washington Capitols (1948-49) are the only other three teams that had similar season starts.
The only team to achieve a 16-game winning streak was the 2015-16 Warriors, who started the season 24-0 before suffering their first loss.
“It’s going to be a big test for us, They obviously play a different style, five-out with five shooters, so it’s going to be a real good test for us. We’re at that point right now — 15-0 and let’s test ourselves against the best and see where we stand and see where we’re going to make adjustments or not make adjustments.” : Atkinson said.
nhl I’ve always loved writing and storytelling, and hockey gives me a perfect stage for endless stories to tell. Whether it’s breaking down a game, analyzing a big trade, or capturing the emotions on the ice, I bring the NHL to life through words. So what’s the best part you ask? Watching the action unfold and turning it into something fans can connect with. To my readers: Hockey is more than just a game—it’s the highs, the heartbreaks, and the moments that make us jump off our seats. So, keep cheering, keep debating, and never stop loving the madness of the sport!
