Jayson Tatum exited the game 4 with just handful of minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.

The Boston Celtics have been dealt with a massive blow after their star player Jayson Tatum was out due to an injury. The Boston Celtics are already trailing the playoffs’ series by 3-1 going back to their TD Garden, and Tatum’s injury issue couldn’t have come at a worse time.

What Happened to Jayson Tatum?

Jayson Tatum appeared to have sustained a non-contact injury during the fourth game against the New York Knicks. The 27-year-old, while trying to stop a counter-attack, moved towards OG Anunoby. This happened with just four minutes to go at the end of the fourth quarter.

While there was a sudden pause from Tatum, but he still pushed his body forward. He then eventually fell to his knees and grabbed his lower leg. As the Knicks rushed towards the basket, the Celtics star was on the floor in massive pain. The medical staff had to carry him off the court with support on both sides of the body.

Jayson Tatum was hopping off the court, unable to apply any pressure on his right leg. Pictures of him getting through the arena’s ramp in a wheelchair are going viral. Even in those moments, the forward looked in massive pain. According to the early reports, Tatum has likely suffered a torn Achilles tendon, which is not good news for the Boston Celtics.

What is the Jayson Tatum Injury Update?

Jayson Tatum is likely to have multiple tests before a conclusion can be established over his injury. By any means, the injury didn’t look good, and he was not even able to place his leg on the floor even through minimal pressure. Achilles injuries usually take a long time to recover.

This puts the Boston Celtics on a massive disadvantage going forward in the series. They are already trailing and after Monday night’s performance their on-court momentum has been shattered. The 27-year-old forward went on to score 42 points, thus emerging as the leader on the game 4 stat sheet. Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla suggested that Jayson has suffered a lower body injury, and he will have MRI scans on Tuesday.
