Jayden Daniels suffered his third injury of the season and could miss multiple games!
The Washington Commanders suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football (SNF), losing 38-14 at home. However, that was not the Commanders’ only loss on the night as franchise quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a horrific elbow injury, resulting in him leaving the field early.
With around seven and a half minutes left in the game, with the Commanders down 38-7 and facing second and goal, second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels escaped the pocket looking to run it to the endzone. Daniels was tackled well short by Seahawks’ linebacker Drake Thomas and landed awkwardly as his elbow bent under his body, resulting in his injury.
Daniels suffered an injury to his left arm, which is his non-throwing arm. In any case, the elbow was bent at a weird angle, and Daniels lay on the ground as the training staff attended to him. He was later seen leaving the field, back to the locker room, with his entire arm in a cast.
A terrifying injury

At this point, there is no definitive answer as to when Daniels would be able to return. He will undergo tests, post which, further details will provide a better idea of how many games he is likely to miss. However, this is his third injury of the season, which also seems to be the most serious one.
Earlier in the season, Daniels suffered a sprained knee in the Week 2 game against the Green Bay Packers, which resulted in him missing the Commanders’ next two games. Then, in Week 7, he sustained a hamstring injury in the game against the Dallas Cowboys, resulting in him missing yet another game before returning on Sunday night against the Seahawks.
This latest injury to Daniels is just another big blow to the Commanders, who have been anything but the dominant team that reached the NFC Championship game last season. After Sunday’s loss, Washington has now fallen to 3-6 and is currently third in the NFC East behind the Eagles and the Cowboys.
The Commanders added wide receiver Deebo Samuel from the 49ers during the offseason and were even successful in extending their star receiver Terry McClaurin, but the offense has lacked the firepower that we saw last season. Moreover, all the injuries to Daniels have also made it difficult for the team to remain consistent through the first 9 weeks of football.
Head coach Dan Quinn’s decision to keep Daniels on the field even after the Commanders were down 38-7 in the fourth quarter has met with plenty of criticism. Many experts and analysts believe that Daniels, who was just returning from a hamstring injury, should have been pulled out of the game much earlier with no real chance of mounting a comeback.

In any case, the Commanders now face an uphill task if they are to salvage their season. Unless and until they can knock off several wins on the trot, Washington’s chances at making the postseason will be over.
