Jason Robertson Sidelined Week-to-Week with Lower-Body Injury

Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson to miss time due to lower-body injury, status now week-to-week

The Dallas Stars received a tough blow just ahead of their first-round playoff matchup against the Colorado Avalanche. Their top goal-scorer, Jason Robertson, has been ruled out week-to-week with a lower-body injury and will miss at least Game 1 of the series. Head coach Pete DeBoer confirmed the news, adding uncertainty to an already challenging playoff opener.

After colliding awkwardly with Nashville’s Michael McCarron, Robertson was injured during the Stars’ final regular-season game. He left the game in the second period and was later seen wearing a brace on his right knee. Despite having extra healthy forwards available, the team had chosen to play Robertson, a move that now looks costly in hindsight.

The timing couldn’t be worse for Dallas. They’re already missing their top defenseman, Miro Heiskanen, who is still recovering from knee surgery. With Heiskanen expected to be out until later in the first round at the earliest, the absence of both a top defenseman and now their leading scorer could create a serious challenge against a strong Avalanche team.

Robertson, who posted 35 goals and 80 points this season, had found his rhythm in the final stretch, scoring 15 goals in his last 27 games. While he didn’t hit the point-per-game mark this year, his offensive presence and consistency were crucial for the Stars. His average ice time of 17:48 was the lowest since his rookie year, but his impact remained high.

There is a slight silver lining: Tyler Seguin returned to the lineup for Game 82 after a long recovery from hip surgery and looked sharp, notching an assist. But Seguin’s return doesn’t completely make up for Robertson’s absence. The Stars’ depth will be tested, especially without Heiskanen anchoring the blue line.

Robertson has also been a key performer in the playoffs, tallying 38 points in 45 career postseason games. His scoring touch and playmaking ability often sparked momentum for Dallas, and his absence means the team will need to reshuffle its top lines. Roope Hintz will now skate with Mikael Granlund and Evgenii Dadonov, while Mikko Rantanen joins Jamie Benn and Wyatt Johnston.

With a strong opponent like Colorado on the other side, Dallas will need to dig deep to make up for the absence of two of their biggest stars.
