Jasmine Paolini vs. Anastasija Sevastova Preview

Jasmine Paolini will play her first match in Wimbledon since the heartbreak in 2024 final. It was her second consecutive defeat in Grand Slam finals. The Italian ace participated in Bad Homburg Open and had a semifinal run after losing to eventual runner-up, Iga Swiatek. Paolini had a roller-coaster ride this season after an injury. She improved her ranking to No. 4 in the WTA and also won the Rome Masters this year. Jasmine Paolini has posted a 27-11 record in the ongoing season. She reached the semifinals in Miami and Stuttgart.

Anastasija Sevastova, 2018 Wimbledon semifinalist, is coming back after an injury-hit season. The Latvian ace missed 14 months of tennis action due to an ACL injury. She made her comeback with the 2025 Madrid Open and beat players like Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Jeļena Ostapenko. However, the veteran lost to Diana Shnaider in the third round. Sevastova’s best run came in the Morocco Open when she reached the quarterfinals. Lack of preparation for the grass-court would be a major issue for Sevastova ahead of a toughest clash against Paolini.

Jasmine Paolini vs. Anastasija Sevastova Wimbledon 2025 Prediction

Jasmine Paolini takes clear advantage on the Latvian veteran in the first round. Sevastova is coming through an injury and posted a 5-5 record in the season. The lack of regularity keeps Sevastova out of the match. The Italian ace should wrap up this game in straight sets. She has a right balance and mental strength on the grass-court. A decent preparation in Bad Homburg will help her to maintain the winning streak in Grand Slam opening round.

Prediction: Paolini to win in straight sets.
