James Harden walked away from Sacramento Arena by moving into the 19th spot on the NBA's all-time scoring list.
The LA Clippers continued their winning run on the road to beat the Kings 98-107 at the hostile Sacramento arena. Despite the absence of Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers were paced by Norman Powell to script a third straight win in the NBA. On the other side, their star player James Harden made history in the process.
James Harden walked away from Sacramento Arena by moving into the 19th spot on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. The 35-year-old surpassed Kevin Garnett who is considered one of the greatest power forwards of all time. With 26072 points, Harden will now eye the 18th position in the list of all-time scoring leaders, taken by John Havlicek (26,395 points). Lakers’ LeBron James is still on the top with 40687 points.
Harden accumulated 22 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals on Friday night. However, his shooting percentage numbers were a bit low. Harden poured in 15 points in the first quarter to help the Clippers take a 51-45 halftime lead.
Harden joined the LA Clippers in 2023-24 from the 76ers and records are flowing since his debut. Last season, he became the 4th player in NBA history to achieve at least 25,000 career points, 7,000 career assists, and 6,000 career rebounds, joining greats like LeBron James, Oscar Robertson, and Russell Westbrook. Harden and Russell Westbrook are also the third pair of 25,000-point scorers to play together in NBA history.
Norman Powell was the MVP for the Clippers who scored his first career double-double with 31 points and 12 rebounds. Powell is averaging over 25 points a game on 50% shooting from the field. Derrick Jones Jr and Amir Coffey chipped in 14 points each.
LA Clippers remain undefeated on the road this season, beating teams like Golden State Warriors, Denver Nuggets, and Sacramento Kings. They will come home for the next game against the Raptors with a three-game winning streak. LA Clippers previously beat the San Antonio Spurs and Philadelphia 76ers to aim third win against the Kings.
