Ja Morant Injury Status: What Happened to Ja Morant in Game 3 against OKC Thunder?

Gulshan Sharma

Ja Morant received a standing ovation after taking a hard fall.

After going 2-0 down in the playoff series, the Memphis Grizzlies dominated the OKC Thunder in Game 3, but faced a major blow in the game. The Grizzlies’ point guard, Ja Morant, didn’t complete the game due to a left hip contusion. Luke Kennard took his place in the Memphis lineup.

Morant was undercut by Luguentz Dort on a drive, and he looked uncomfortable. The two-time All-Star limped to the locker room with just over three minutes remaining in the half. When Morant left the game, the Grizzlies held a 27-point lead over the Thunder.

Will Ja Morant return for this game? How Long Will Ja Morant be Sidelined?

Ja Morant will not return for this game as the All-Star guard has been ruled out for Game 3. Morant played for just 16 minutes and scored 15 points, including five assists, before facing an injury.

Ja Morant received a standing ovation after taking a hard fall. He returned and completed his free throws before heading to the locker room in Game 3.

Warriors star Draymond Green was not happy with Morant’s play, which ruled him out of the game on Friday. He shared his thoughts on Morant’s hip injury. “Man, y’all need to stop with them dirty plays!! I hate seeing these young players get hurt over nonsense.”

Fans were also not happy with not giving a flagrant foul to Lu Dort for cutting Ja Morant out of midair. In the same game, Scotty Pippen Jr. received a flagrant foul for kicking Hartenstein in the cajones going up for the layup.

Ja Morant was in deep pain, and there is a serious concern around his availability in Game 4. Memphis guard will be monitored by his team’s medical staff and before reaching to the final point, he will be questionable for Game 4.

However, his injury hurt Memphis in offense, and the Thunder outscored them in the third quarter 36-18 to reduce the deficit to a single digit. Oklahoma City continued their top form and outclassed Memphis in the fourth quarter to complete a comeback win. The Thunder are just one win away to reach next round of the NBA playoffs.
