‘Jimmy Always Says He’s Going To Be Fine’- Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr Shares Updates on Jimmy Butler’s Injury

Jimmy Butler exited Game 2 with a pelvic contusion after suffering a hard fall in first quarter.

The Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr shared an update on their star forward Jimmy Butler’s injury following a Game 2 loss against the Houston Rockets. Kerr shared that Butler will undergo an MRI tomorrow on the injury he suffered during the first quarter of the game. He said, “Feel terrible for Jimmy. Hopefully he’s okay. We’ll see. He’s going to get an MRI tomorrow.”

Kerr also shared how Butler felt about the injury and said that the former Miami Heat star always feels that he would be fine. However, Kerr added, the team would wait for his MRI to evaluate the entire situation. The 59-year-old stated, “Jimmy always says he’s going to be fine, but we have to wait to see with the MRI.”

Notably, within only eight minutes of Game 2 of the first-round playoff series, Butler suffered a hard fall in a rebound attempt. The six-time NBA All-Star exited the game immediately and soon the franchise ruled him out for the remainder of the game. Before leaving the court, he dropped three points and two rebounds.

“If Jimmy’s Out, We Have to Rethink Everything”- Steve Kerr’s On Jimmy Butler’s Injury

The extent of Butler’s injury is still unknown and his availability for Game 3 will be decided after the MRI report. Neither Butler nor the seven time champions would want it to be a serious issue and hope for a quick return of their newly-acquired star. Highlighting the importance of Butler in their lineup at such a crucial stage, Kerr said that if the forward is ruled out, they would have to rethink everything about the lineup and player rotation.

He said, “We will see how it all plays out. If Jimmy’s out, we have to rethink everything like rotations and who starts and the best combinations and all that stuff.”

Kerr’s statement comes from the fact that Butler has proven to be the right addition to the Warriors’ squad. Having played 30 games with the Dubs, Butler has been averaging 17.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game in the season.

In his playoff debut with the Warriors, he tallied 25 points, seven rebounds, and six assists for the side. While the Warriors recorded a win in the game, the Rockets capitalized Butler’s absence and leveled the first-round playoff series 1-1 with a 109-94 win over the Dubs.
