Ja Morant Ignores NBA’s Warning, Breaks Out Yet Another ‘Gun’ Celebration in Grizzlies’ Win Over Heat

Morant dropped a 9-foot buzzer-beater to snatch a narrow win.

Just two days after receiving an official warning from the league, Ja Morant triggered the NBA with another ‘gun’ celebration during the Memphis Grizzlies’ 110-108 victory over the Miami Heat. Memphis guard aimed finger guns in the direction of the Warriors’ bench and received a technical foul.

The 25-year-old guard dropped the game-winner to give the Grizzlies a narrow victory and halt the team’s four-game losing streak. Morant scored 30 points, five rebounds and three assists over 32-minute stay.

Ja Morant, a two-time All-Star, has a history of brandishing guns on social media. He was issued warnings for mimicking shooting a gun against the Warriors. The NBA called his celebration inappropriate.

Last season, the Memphis guard was suspended for the first 25 games for conduct detrimental to the NBA. He brandished a gun on Instagram Live in May 2023. The league issued an indefinite suspension and Morant missed eight games.

Morant’s boneheaded celebration could trouble Ja Morant ahead of the playoffs. He may serve a hefty fine or be forced to a couple of games.

The 2019 second-overall pick helped the Memphis Grizzlies keep their hopes alive for the NBA playoffs after a crucial win over the Miami Heat. Grizzlies were one point behind heading into the fourth quarter. Tyler Herro’s driving floating jump shot helped Miami to tie the game at 108 points with 14 seconds left. Morant dropped a 9-foot buzzer-beater to snatch a narrow win.

Apart from Morant, Desmond Bane scored 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Scotty Pippen Jr. added 17. Jaylen Wells and Jaren Jackson Jr. added 13 apiece.
