Argentina Face Brazil Tonight and Selecao Fans Will Look for Neymar in Their Tough Times, but Will He Play?
Brazil face Argentina on the road in a crucial World Cup qualifier on Tuesday. While the Selecao are looking to boost their qualification chances, their opponent, Argentina, will be looking to seal their place in the 2026 World Cup. Brazil, in third place in the CONMEBOL rankings, are trailing Argentina.
Argentina, currently sitting at the top of the standings, have been unbeaten in the last four meetings with Brazil. A win in this game for La Albiceleste would virtually secure their spot in the 2026 World Cup. Whereas, Brazil has had a shaky and slow start to the qualifiers campaign.

They have also struggled in away games in the World Cup qualifiers campaign. They’ve won just once in their last five matches, drawing one and losing three in the remaining games. In such a situation, fans will look for their ace, Neymar, to show some magic after he missed their previous match against Colombia.

Unfortunately, Neymar will not feature against Argentina as well. He was ruled out of Brazil’s squad for both of this month’s qualifiers due to an injury. Coach Dorival Junior confirmed in a video published by the Brazil Football Confederation that Neymar, goalkeeper Ederson, and defender Danilo were unfit to play this month.
Neymar, who rejoined Santos in January, sustained the injury on March 2. He was substituted during Santos’ match against Bragantino after sustaining an injury on his left thigh. He also missed the club’s Sao Paulo state championship semifinal against Corinthians.
In an Instagram story, Neymar expressed his frustration, stating, “The return seemed so close, but unfortunately I won’t be able to wear the most important jersey in the world for the moment.” Real Madrid’s Endrick was called up to replace Neymar in the meantime.
