Is Caitlin Clark playing in the WNBA All-Star Game? The Indiana Fever Star shares worrying update!

The 2025 WNBA All-Star is scheduled to take place on July 19 and it will be played in Indianapolis. Last year, WNBA witnessed a big growth in the All-Star game which was played between Team USA and Team WNBA. It drew 3.44 million viewers, more than double the previous year and the largest audience for a WNBA game in the Clark era.

The All-Star game is back again with a new twist and two teams will be named after players like we saw earlier in the NBA. Caitlin Clark was named the captain of a team. Roster is finalized and both teams have started their preparation for the upcoming WNBA All-Star event. Ahead of the big matchup, Caitlin Clark made a big announcement on her participation for the All-Star game and the 3-point Contest.

Is Caitlin Clark playing in the WNBA All-Star Game?

Caitlin Clark is going to miss the WNBA All-Star Game due to an ongoing groin injury. The Indiana star shared the update on her participation Thursday morning. The 2024 rookie of the year is making headlines for her tremendous fan-following and star value which impacted WNBA’s growth. Indiana Fever’s matches have continued to be the most-watched on TV and ticket prices of the each game has made a rapid rise.

Apart from Clark, Phoenix Mercury’s Satou Sabally will also not participate in the All-Star Game as she continues rehab for an ankle injury. She was selected as a starter and drafted by Clark. Washington Mystics guard Brittney Sykes will replace Caitlin Clark and Dream forward Brionna Jones will play in place of Sabally.

Is Caitlin Clark in the 3-point contest?

Caitlin Clark will also miss the 3-point contest in the All-Star event at Indianapolis. Her participation in the 3-point contest would have been her first in the WNBA. She said she would still attend the game Saturday but will not participate.

“I am incredibly sad and disappointed to say I can’t participate in the 3-Point Contest or the All-Star Game,” Clark said in a team statement Thursday morning. “I have to rest my body. I will still be at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for all the action and I’m looking forward to helping Sandy [Brondello] coach our team to a win.”

“I’m disappointed, naturally, but I want to ensure I’m doing everything I can to be healthy after the break and give … my organization and the X-Factor everything I can as we compete to accomplish our team goals,” Sabally, Clark’s All-Star teammate said on her Instagram Story.

Caitlin Clark made her WNBA All-Star debut last year. The Indiana Fever guard played for Team WNBA, who defeated Team USA 117-109. Clark grabbed 10 assists and scored four points as the starter. Her debut at 3-point contest this year has been delayed due to an injury.
