Injuries Pile up for the Washington Commanders as Jayden Daniels, Marshon Lattimore, and Luke McCaffrey Suffer Potential Season-Ending Injuries in the Week 9 loss against the Seahawks!

The injury bug has hit the Commanders hard this season as three more players possibly out for the season!

Following the splendid run to the NFC Championship game last season, there were plenty of hopes from the Washington Commanders to be a threat once again during the 2025-26 season.

First-year head coach for the Commanders, Dan Quinn, and then rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels surprised one and all last year, and more was expected from them in their second season together.

That, however, has not been the case through the first 9 weeks of football, especially with all the injuries that have hit the team. Sunday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks was more of the same, as not only did the Commanders end up losing big (38-14), but they may have potentially lost three more key players for the rest of the season.

Jayden Daniels’ Elbow Injury

Commanders’ second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a gruesome elbow injury during the game against the Seahawks on Sunday night. On a second and goal play, while trailing 38-7, Daniels looked to escape the pressure but was eventually taken down by linebacker Drake Thomas.

As he was going down, the weight of Daniels’ entire body fell on his left arm, bending it in the other direction. It has since been reported that he suffered a dislocated elbow and had to leave the field with his non-throwing arm in a brace.

Daniels was supposed to undergo tests on Monday. Head coach Dan Quinn has confirmed that the signal caller did not suffer any fractures, and the injury is limited to a dislocation, but Daniels is slated to be out indefinitely.

Cornerback Marshon Lattimore Out for the Season

The game against Seattle on Sunday produced even more bad news, this time on the defensive side of the ball. After hurting his knee during the game, cornerback Marshon Lattimore underwent an MRI on Monday, which confirmed that the talented defender has torn his ACL.

Lattimore will be placed on injured reserve as his season has come to an end. That is a tough loss for the Commanders, as the 29-year-old was the number one cornerback on the roster. Through 9 games this season, Lattimore had 27 total tackles, one interception, one fumble recovery, and 7 pass deflections.

Luke McCaffrey to go on Washington Commanders Injured Reserve

Wide receiver Luke McCaffrey was injured on the very first play of the game against the Seahawks on SNF while he was returning the opening kickoff. It has been reported that McCaffrey suffered a broken collarbone and will join Lattimore on the team’s injured reserve.

The second-year wideout had seen some involvement as a pass-catcher this season, especially with Terry McClaurin missing out on 5 games. Prior to getting injured, McCaffrey had 11 receptions for 203 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Other Commanders’ Injuries

The Commanders’ season is going from bad to worse, not only in terms of their 3-6 record, but also with all the injuries they are having to deal with. Jayden Daniels has missed a few games and will now continue to miss many more, with the possibility that he may not return this season.

Terry McClaurin has had his share of injury concerns and is currently week-to-week with a quad injury. Multiple key players are out with season-ending injuries, including running back Austin Ekeler with a torn Achilles, Dorance Armstrong with a knee injury, and Deatrich Wise Jr. with a torn quadriceps.

The Commanders also have many players on the IR, such as Noah Brown due to a groin and knee injury, Will Harris with a fractured fibula, and, most recently, Luke McCaffrey with his broken collarbone.

It is going to be an uphill battle for the Washington Commanders to try and make the postseason this year, and it may not be long before we learn their fate.
