Lucas Oil signed a multi-year jersey patch deal with the Indiana Pacers in July this year.
The Indiana Fever paid heartfelt tribute to Forrest Lucas, the founder of Lucas Oil after his death. Notably, Lucas Oil has been in a long partnership with the Pacers Sports and Entertainments (PSE), the company that operates the Indiana Fever and the Indiana Pacers. The history between both the teams dates back to a few years, but in July this year, Lucas Oil signed a multi-year jersey patch deal with the Indiana Pacers.
Paying their tributes to Lucas, the official channels of the Indiana Pacers, the Fever, and PSE shared a heartfelt message. The message read, “We are saddened by the passing of Forrest Lucas, a visionary entrepreneur and long-time friend of Pacers Sports & Entertainment. His passion for innovation, commitment to excellence and dedication to giving back set an example for us all. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Lucas family and the entire team at Lucas Oil.”

The Indiana Fever finished the 2024 WNBA season with a 20-20 record in sixth spot. Entering the 2025 season, they were high on hopes, but they had a below-par beginning of their campaign. The Fever could manage to win only two of their five first games. While things started to get back on track, and Indiana emerged as one of the title contenders this season, things took an unexpected turn.
Indiana star Caitlin Clark got injured, and missed 23 of their total 36 games across three injury legs. Currently, she has been out 14 straight games and is unlikely to return this season. This is not it, but a total of three players, including Sophie Cunningham, Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson were sidelined with season-ending injuries. Needless to say, things have gone dramatically downhill for the Fever, who are now trying to stay afloat.
There is less than a month to go for the postseason and they are in the sixth spot with a 19-17 tally. They still have a tough season remaining with two more matches with the leaders, Minnesota Lynx. While they could still manage to reach the playoffs, with the remaining roster, the Fever are not likely to win the title. However, even then, they would need a difference maker, which Clark is.
We think the Fever should hope for Clark’s return, but even then nothing is guaranteed. Hence, they should already start strategizing for the next season.
