Iga Swiatek vs. Eva Lys Head-to-Head, Prediction, and Betting Odds for WTA National Bank Open 2025 Round of 32

Rudra Dubey

Heavy favorite Swiatek takes on unseeded Lys, who’s chasing a career-defining upset

Second seed Iga Swiatek will take on unseeded Eva Lys in the third round of the National Bank Open in Montreal. Swiatek, who received a first-round bye, opened her campaign with a comfortable straight-sets win over qualifier Hanyu Guo. Lys, meanwhile, is riding the momentum of back-to-back upsets, first over Leolia Jeanjean, then over 27th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, both in straight sets.

Swiatek is coming off her maiden Wimbledon title and sixth Grand Slam overall, a run highlighted by a ruthless 6-0, 6-0 demolition of Amanda Anisimova. She’s had an impressively consistent season, with semifinal finishes at the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Indian Wells, Doha, and Madrid. Also, quarterfinals in Miami, Stuttgart, and Dubai, and a runner-up showing in Bad Homburg, ousted by Jessica Pegula. Statistically, the Pole has been sharp with 143 aces, 68.7% first-serve points won, 51.7% break point conversion, and 47.6% return points won.

Lys has had a quieter 2025, mostly falling short of the second round in WTA events. Her standout result came in Melbourne, where she reached the fourth round, along with a WTA 125 quarterfinal in La Bisbal. Recently, she withdrew from Hamburg due to an arthritis flare-up. Through 19 matches, she’s tallied 15 aces, winning 59.1% of first-serve points and 43.3% on return, and converting 49.7% of break points.

Iga Swiatek vs. Eva Lys Head-to-Head Record

Iga Swiatek holds a commanding 2-0 lead in her head-to-head against Eva Lys, and it hasn’t been close. The Pole dismantled Lys in both of their previous meetings, first in Stuttgart (2022) and then more recently at the 2025 Australian Open. With breadsticks and bagels on the scoreboard each time, Swiatek has made it clear she holds all the cards in this matchup.

My journey into sports media began far from the field, rooted in the arts and sciences. Funny enough, I didn’t grow up a sports fan; I used to see it all as just noise. But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
