Iga Swiatek vs. Caty McNally Head-to-Head, Preview, Prediction, and Betting Odds for Wimbledon 2025 Second Round

Rudra Dubey

Swiatek eyes first title breakthrough as she takes on a returning McNally at Wimbledon.

Eighth seed Iga Swiatek is set to face Caty McNally, who is competing under a protected ranking, in the second round of Wimbledon 2025. The Pole looked sharp in her opener, easing past Polina Kudermetova in straight sets. McNally, on the other hand, defeated British wild card Jodie Burrage to advance.

McNally has struggled with injuries over the past few years, particularly an elbow issue that forced her to withdraw from the 2023 US Open. She underwent surgery in February 2024 and spent several months on the sidelines. Since her return in November 2024, she has been playing under a protected ranking as she works to rebuild her career.

Iga Swiatek vs. Caty McNally Preview

Swiatek is yet to claim a title in 2025, but her consistency has stood out. The eighth seed has made quarterfinal runs in Dubai, Miami, and Stuttgart, along with semifinal finishes in Melbourne, Qatar, Indian Wells, Madrid, and Roland Garros. Most recently, she reached her first final of the year in Bad Homburg but fell to Jessica Pegula in straight sets. Across 47 matches, she has served 119 aces, winning 67.5% of her first-serve points, 47.3% of return points, and converting 51.2% of break points.

McNally returned to the tour in November 2024 after elbow surgery but has struggled for rhythm. She withdrew from Austin with a shoulder injury and suffered a first-round exit at the Australian Open. With mostly early-round exits this year, McNally has played seven matches, hitting six aces, winning 56.7% of first-serve points, 41.8% of return points, and converting 55.3% of break points.

My journey into sports media began far from the field, rooted in the arts and sciences. Funny enough, I didn’t grow up a sports fan; I used to see it all as just noise. But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
