World No. 2 Iga Swiatek looks to extend her dominance in the second half of 2025, with an opening round encounter against Emiliana Arango of Columbia in the 2025 US Open. While Swiatek is on a five-match winning streak and also reached the final of the Mixed Doubles Championship, she will be facing the Colombian for the first time on tour. Here’s all you need to know about the match preview, predictions, and the BetMGM betting odds.
Call her the Polish magician, call her Super-woman, call her what you may. Iga Swiatek proved her impeccable dedication by competing in the 2025 US Open Mixed Doubles Championship less than 24 hours after winning the Cincinnati Open title. The 24-year-old began the season with numerous QFs and SFs, eventually culminating in a grand success at Wimbledon. Swiatek has gone 49-12 this year with two titles to her name. The second seed was ousted in the USO quarterfinals last year by Jessica Pegula.

Yet to win a title on the WTA Tour, Emiliana Arango is currently ranked No. 81 in the world. The Colombian will be making her first main draw appearance at Flushing Meadows in 2025. Arango’s best performance of the season came at the Merida Open Akron, where she reached the final but received a 0-6 0-6 thrashing at the hands of Emma Navarro. She also entered her maiden Grand Slam second round with a win over Alexandra Eala at Roland Garros. The 24-year-old has a 19-18 record this year.

Swiatek is a former champion in New York, and got herself accustomed to the American conditions at Cincinnati. She is striking the ball better than ever, and seems to have cracked the code from a mental standpoint. Arango has the fierce South American grit, and must look to attack the Pole’s service games to catch her off guard. Unfortunately, the youngster has managed a success rate of merely 50% on serve this year – putting her on the back foot.
