“I Do Feel This Responsibility” – Caitlin Clark Opens Up on Pressure During Recovery, Injury Concerns Stall Fever’s Push and WNBA Growth

Caitlin Clark admits to feeling pressure during her injury recovery

The Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark has been out of action since mid-July. And with no return timeline, not only the Fever is facing the heat, but also the league as a whole. It is no secret that Clark is a major draw for only her franchise but also others.

She is the face of the league who has brought landmark revenue, viewership, and ticket sales. One of the biggest reasons why the WNBA will record profit for the first time in history in a couple of years, is because of Caitlin Clark.

Her sophomore season has shown why the league depends heavily on her stardom. Caitlin Clark, who has been out due to a groin injury has seen a decline in league wide viewership. Ticket sales have also taken a hit over Fever’s home and away games.

She is expected to return to action sometime this month, but there is no writing on the wall. Her return depends on how she responds to treatment at the present and how she feels in the training.

WNBA Suffers Without Clark’s Star Power

Caitlin Clark also opened up on her time away from the court. She has been feeling the pressure to return due to financial pressure. Certain games like those against the Dallas Wings and the Chicago Sky were moved to bigger arenas, but due to injury issues, not only franchises but also fans took a big hit.

Clark said, “I’m going to go to every road game no matter what. Whether I’m playing or not. It’s hard because I do feel this responsibility of being out there and playing, and not that I think there’s like a fear of any of this ever going away. People spend so much time and money, and resources to come and watch you play.”

She added, “That’s why I’ve been trying to take as much time as I can. Like I sign autographs for way longer when I’m hurt than when I’m active. So, that’s never something I wish for, but I still want to make as much time as I can for people, and you know, give them something that they can remember.”
