Liverpool are closing in on their seventh signing of the summer with a deal agreed for French striker Hugo Ekitike. The 23-year-old is expected to arrive in the UK on Tuesday for his medical ahead of finalizing the move from Eintracht Frankfurt. The Premier League cgampions have struck a deal worth £79 million for the forward, with £69m guaranteed and a further £10m in add-ons.

Ekitike will sign a six-year contract once medical and media duties are completed. After wrapping up formalities, Ekitike is scheduled to fly out to join Liverpool’s pre-season squad in Asia, where Arne Slot’s men are currently on tour. Liverpool’s squad landed in Hong Kong on Monday ahead of their friendly against AC Milan on Saturday.

Ekitike said farewell to his Frankfurt teammates before the German team’s pre-season trip to the United States. His arrival at Liverpool is part of a busy window as the club strengthens under manager Arne Slot. Liverpool’s total spend this summer has now surged past £250 million.

Ekitike’s Impressive Bundesliga Numbers

Ekitike enjoyed a standout season in the Bundesliga last year. He scored 15 goals in 31 starts as Frankfurt finished third. Only five players had a better goal tally across the league. He also contributed eight assists and attempted 117 shots, more than any other player in Germany’s top flight.

Liverpool beat serious competition from Newcastle United for Ekitike, who had a £70m bid rejected earlier this month. The Reds had also considered Alexander Isak but ultimately made Ekitike their top striker target. Ekitike’s arrival adds further firepower to Slot’s squad ahead of the new Premier League season. The 23-year-old Frenchman will join fellow new signings Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Armin Pesci, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Freddie Woodman at Liverpool this summer.
