Houston Texans Schedule for 2026-27 NFL Season – Texans Strength of Schedule Analysis, Odds for Super Bowl 61, Conference Winner Odds, and Division Winner Odds

Devavrat Kulkarni

The Texans are favored to win the AFC South in the 2026-27 NFL season!

After the Texans’ quarterback C.J. Stroud lit up the league in his rookie season, his second season under center was a quieter one. However, the 2025-26 season was worse as Stroud struggled with offensive line issues and a depleted wide receivers room.

While the offense struggled throughout the season, Houston’s defense led from the front, especially the dynamic duo of Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter. The defense was the reason the Texans managed to make the postseason despite being 3-5 through 9 weeks of football.

The Texans then went on a nine-game winning streak to finish second in the AFC South and make the postseason once again. In spite of a valiant effort in difficult conditions, Houston came up short against New England in the Divisional round of the playoffs.

Houston Texans Schedule for 2026-27 NFL Season

In the 2026-27 regular season, the Houston Texans will play 8 home games and 9 away games as part of the NFL’s rotation policy. From their customary 17 games, the Texans will play 6 games against the AFC South opponents.

In the upcoming season, the AFC South teams will play against the AFC North and the NFC East as per the rotation. Therefore, the Texans will play 4 games each against teams from these two divisions.

Since the Texans finished second this past season in their division, they will play the second-placed teams from the AFC East and the AFC West, along with the second-placed team from the NFC North.

Texans Strength of Schedule Analysis and Prediction for 2026-27 NFL Season

Strength of Schedule Analysis

The Houston Texans will have a much easier schedule than most teams in the league, with sources indicating it as (.474). The Texans’ strength of schedule places them in the 27th position for the upcoming 2026-27 NFL season.

Looking at Houston’s schedule, they will be playing just 7 games against teams that made the playoffs last season. Of those 7 games, 2 of them will come against divisional rivals, the Jaguars. Furthermore, the Texans will have games against easier opponents as per the previous year’s results, including the Titans (2 games), Giants, Browns, Commanders, and more.

Prediction

Last season, Houston got off to a tricky start with a 3-5 record through the first 9 weeks. It was only after that that they went on an incredible 9-win streak to finish second in the AFC South and make the playoffs.

That being said, the Texans suffered from terrible O-line play, and the receiver room was depleted with the absence of Tank Dell. C. J. Stroud, in his third year, was unable to get the offense clicking. The defense, though, was outstanding, especially Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson Jr., who combined for a total of 27 sacks in 17 regular season games.

In fact, the Texans’ elite defense finished second in the league, allowing just 17.4 points per game. They were also the second-best team with a +17 turnover differential as they forced 29 takeaways.

The Texans’ defense is the real deal, and by the time the new season gets underway, the offense should be boosted by the presence of Tank Dell. Houston’s 9-game win streak was a monumental effort to close out the season. The Titans are quite far off from posing a serious threat, but Houston will have to deal with the Colts and Jaguars within their division.

Our Prediction: Texans to make the playoffs in the 2026-27 NFL season.

Houston Texans Super Bowl LXI Odds for 2026-27 Season

According to the latest Super Bowl odds on FanDuel, the Houston Texans are (+2000) to win Super Bowl 61 next season. That means the Texans have the 14th-best chance of winning the big game next year as per FanDuel.

Despite having one of the league’s top defenses, the Texans fell short on the other side of the ball. In order to build a championship-caliber team, they must address the offensive line issues with immediate effect. In addition to that, adding another able receiver, most likely from the draft, would be a good option.

Looking at the Texans’ roster at the moment, the team is heavily leaning toward the defensive side of the game, whereas the teams threatening to win a Super Bowl either boast an elite offense or defense, while the other side has the potential to contribute significantly to the team’s overall success.

Houston Texans Conference Winner Odds for 2026-27 Season

Within the Conference, the Texans have (+1000) odds to win the AFC, as per FanDuel. This currently puts Houston in seventh place in the conference, with teams such as the Ravens, Bills, Chargers, Chiefs, and others ahead of them.

For the same reason that we mentioned above, the Texans lie near the middle of the AFC in terms of winning the conference next season. Sorting out their underlying issues would help for sure, but the other factor to think about is how to manage the cold weather conditions that stop them from winning games on the road in the postseason.

Houston Texans Division Winner Odds for 2026-27 Season

The Texans’ odds to win the AFC South are set at (+160), as per DraftKings. Those odds reflect that Houston is expected to top the division as the Jaguars, Colts, and Titans all have worse odds.

Over the past three years, since C.J. Stroud took control of the offense, the Texans have been perennial postseason contenders. The AFC South may be a three-horse race going into the new season, with the Texans being challenged by the Colts and the Jaguars. But, Houston doesn’t need to change too much to regain a strong hold over the division, and a decent offseason should suffice.
