The Warriors now lead the series against the Rockets 2-1.
The first-round NBA 2025 Playoff series between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets is turning out to be exciting. After the Rockets leveled the series against the Warriors by securing a 109-94 win in Game 2, the Dubs bounced back to secure the upper hand by taking down the rivals 104-93. The series is now 2-1 in their favor.
After missing out four consecutive playoffs, the Rockets recorded a memorable season, having finished second in the West with a staggering 52-30 tally. This is for the first time since 2019 that they have crossed the 50-win mark. Needless to say, expectations from Ime Udoka have jumped significantly.
However, they have been grouped against the Golden State Warriors, the seven-time champions. While the Dubs finished seventh this season, they are still the team that knocked the Rockets out of the playoffs four times out of their six playoff campaigns. Considering how they have been, the Warriors were expected to be heavy favorites from the beginning.
While they made their mark by setting up an early dominance, the Warriors fell brutally in the second game. It is to be seen if they are able to continue their winning prowess or the Rockets are able make a comeback in the next game.
The Warriors were without Jimmy Butler, who suffered a pelvic contusion following a hard fall in Game 2. Stephen Curry once again shouldered the scoring responsibility for the side and dropped 36 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists. Buddy Hield scored 17 points, two rebounds, and two assists while Gary Payton II had 16 points, three rebounds, and one assist. Brandin Podziemski dropped 10 points, four rebounds, two assists.
On the other hand, it was a low-scoring effort from the Rockets, who had Fred VanVleet coming up with the highest score, i.e., 17 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Alperen Sengun tallied 15 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists whereas Dillon Brooks had 13 points, six rebounds, and one assist.
It is to be seen if the Rockets would bounce back from the loss, or the Warriors would continue their winning run, to advance ahead.

The win against the Warriors in Game 2 not only helped the Rockets get on the board, but also helped them boost the rivals who have ended their championship dreams time and again. While the first game looked like history would repeat itself, the Rockets pulled their socks up and made a stunning comeback in the series by clinching a victory. However, the trophy dreams once again look distant for them following a Game 3 win by the Warriors.
As action moves for Game 4 on April 28 at Chase Center, the Rockets would eye leveling the series, pushing it towards the final games.
