The Golden State Warriors head into the final showdown on the back of a significant 117-105 defeat.
The exciting opening round of the NBA Playoffs 2025 comes to an end with the Houston Rockets and the Golden State Warriors locking horns in a decisive Game 7. The final encounter of the first-round series will take place at the Toyota Center on Sunday, May 4. It has been one of the most thrilling first rounds off late, with two high-voltage series in the west coming to the final Game 7.
The Golden State Warriors head into the final showdown on the back of a significant 117-105 defeat. The Dubs couldn’t come up with a power-packed shooting performance. They had Stephen Curry lead the charts with 29 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Jimmy Butler, who aims for his first conference semifinals with the Warriors, dropped 27 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.
Apart from them, no other player could cross the 20-point mark, making their heavy reliance on Curry and Butler pretty obvious. They kicked off the series with a bang, and even had a 3-1 lead at one point of time. However, it looks like they underestimated their rivals, which allowed them to level the series, and now, we are at a decider.
The Rockets have a poor playoffs history against the seven-time champions, Warriors. However, it looks like the Ime Udoka-led side has come up with a strong mindset of not letting the Dubs eliminate them from the playoffs once again. After the Steve Kerr side recorded a win in the first game, the Rockets bounced back quickly to level the series 1-1.
Not only this, but they recorded two back-to-back wins in Game 5 and 6 to force a decisive Game 7. It looks while the Dubs maintain the upper hand in the playoffs, the Rockets are all set to write a new chapter in the history. In the forthcoming game, they would aim to make the most of the home court advantage, and take down their counterparts to book a Western Conference Semifinal date with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Houston Rockets and the Golden State Warriors have had a total of 29 playoffs encounters so far. Out of those 29 games, the Warriors have emerged victorious on 19 occasions, while the Rockets have clinched 10 wins. Clearly, the Dubs have the upper hand over the rivals, and they would aim to continue the dominance in the final game of the ongoing series.
