Following an emphatic start to his campaign, Casper Ruud lock horns against Denmark’s Holger Rune in the quarterfinal of 2025 Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell. Ruud, No. 10 in the ATP Rankings, got better of Serbia’s Hamad Medjedovic in straight sets to step closer in pursuit of defending his title. The winner of this match will face either Karen Khachanov or Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the semifinals.
Holger Rune currently stands at No. 13 in the ATP Rankings. The Denis ace was the finalist in Indian Wells 2025 and beat players like Stefanos Tsitsipas, Tallon Griekspoor, and Daniil Medvedev during the run. Rune overcame Sebastian Baez 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 route to the quarterfinal.
