Harry Kane Transfer News: Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Welcomes England Skipper’s Potential Return

Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank has said Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane would be “more than welcome” to return to Spurs amid renewed speculation over the England captain’s future. Kane joined Bayern in 2023 for £100m after rising through Tottenham’s academy. He has a release clause in his contract that becomes active in January.

Since leaving north London, Kane has enjoyed immediate success in Germany. He won the Bundesliga and German Super Cup in his debut season, while also securing the European Golden Boot with 36 goals. He has continued that prolific form this campaign, scoring 13 goals in his first seven matches, including a Champions League brace against Chelsea.

If Harry Kane Wants To Join Us, He’s More Than Welcome: Thomas

According to Sky Sports News, the clause would allow him to leave for £67m in 2025, before dropping to £54m in 2026. Spurs also inserted a ‘first option’ clause in the deal, giving them the right to match any bid accepted by Bayern. Thomas Frank said,

“There are a lot of Tottenham fans, including myself who would like to see Kane back. Personally, I don’t think he will do it right now, if I’m honest. He’ll probably stay in Bayern [Munich] and continue performing well. He was the top scorer last year. He won the title and he’s doing fantastic now.”

“I don’t know what he’s thinking. Myself, I’m a traveller, I like to explore things as well, so he’s been here for many years, so why not enjoy the time in Bayern a little bit more. But he’s welcome. If he wants to join us, he’s more than welcome.”

Despite the ongoing speculation, reports suggest Harry Kane is happy at Bayern. Still, Frank’s comments have reignited talk of a possible homecoming for Tottenham’s all-time leading scorer, who netted 280 goals in 435 appearances during his first spell with the club.

Former Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has previously confirmed the existence of the ‘first option’ clause, which gives Tottenham an opportunity but not a guarantee of re-signing Kane. For now, Kane remains focused on his Bayern career, but the possibility of a return to north London will linger, courtersy of Thomas Frank’s comments.
