Guardians’ All-Star David Fry to miss most of season after undergoing elbow surgery

The timeline for his return has been set between 8-12 months.

The Cleveland Guardians have suffered a big blow as star David Fry underwent major elbow surgery on Monday which will keep him out for most of the 2025 season. Fry, who made the All-Star game in his second season, served as an all-rounder in the team, playing catcher, first base, third base, outfield, and designated hitter.

However, the 28-year-old was kept out of the fielding position after he suffered an elbow injury late in the season.

Now, according to Mandy Bell from MLB.com, Fry underwent surgery to repair a ligament in his elbow on Monday.

The timeline for his return has been set between 8-12 months. This suggests that Fry will remain sidelined until at least June.

Fry has played 2 seasons for the Guardians. He has a .257 batting average, 112 hits, 18 home runs, 66 RBIs, and 56 runs scored.

This season, he averaged 0.263, made 96 hits, 14 home runs, 51 RBIs, and scored 48 runs.
