Paris Saint-Germain will be in celebration after they took a step forward to their first-ever Champions League title. After securing a 3-1 win on aggregate over Arsenal, the French side has also got some huge news from their Italian goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Donnarumma has played a huge role in PSG’s UCL 2024/25 success. From the heroics in the penalty shootout against Liverpool to the stellar wall performance against Arsenal in the semifinals, PSG goalkeeper’s impact has been significant in their success at the European stages.

Adding more happiness to the Parisians dugout, Donnarumma in his latest interview claimed he is very happy with PSG. Talking about his contract situation, Donnarumma hinted at the extension, telling the media:

“I’m under contract for one more year… it’s up to the club. If PSG want me to stay, I’m gonna stay”.

“We just have to sign the new contract, but it’s up to the club”.

The 26-year-old Goalkeeper arrived at PSG from AC Milan in July 2021 on a free transfer. Having won significant French domestic cups, Donnarumma and his side have lacked a European jewel. The Italian will be ready for the big stage as he’s seen a few major tournament finals in the past.

Donnarumma On Kylian Mbappe’s Departure From PSG

Kylian Mbappe parted ways with PSG last summer following his move to Real Madrid. The Frenchman who came in as a teenager at Paris had significant UCL campaigns over the years. However, the club’s most recent success has come in the same year as his departure.

Talking about the impact of Mbappe’s absence and how it has shaped the team’s uniformity, Donarumma, in his interview, told Prime Video after full-time,

“The spirit has changed; we are much more of a team. We play for each other,”

“We miss Kylian, he is one of the best in the world, and I wish him all the best because he is a great friend. The team is very united, we’re doing well together. We (Italy) won a European Championship like this, it makes all the difference in every team.”

Donnarumma is considered the master of big stages, given his record when the stakes are high. Having made over 70% saves in the UCL as of now, Donnarumma has kept five clean sheets in the Champions League this season. Furthermore, he has conceded only one goal per game as they enter the final stage of the competition.

PSG Goalkeeper has also been in the talks for the Ballon d’Or 2025 after his performance against Arsenal. Keeping the English side at bay, the 26-year-old made piercing their walls tougher than it already was on Wednesday.
