Wales legend Gareth Bale has long expressed a desire to own and transform Cardiff City.
Wales legend Gareth Bale has confirmed that his consortium has submitted a fresh bid to buy Cardiff City. The former Real Madrid and Tottenham winger is hoping that Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan will “take the new offer seriously” as he seeks to take over his hometown club.
Bale, who is fronting a group of investors, previously saw an initial £40 million offer turned down by Tan. However, speaking on Front Office Sports Today, the 35-year-old revealed a “brand new offer” is now on the table as he looks to spearhead Cardiff’s return to the Premier League.
Bale revealed,
“It’s exciting news, we have a brand new offer on the table, it’s recently just gone in. We think it’s a great offer, one that we’re very happy with. We think it’s very fair, if not more than fair, and it’s something we hope the current owners will take serious.
“We’d love them to accept so we can take full control and get on with what we want to do and create Cardiff into a club that we know it can be.”

Bale retired from football in January 2023 after a decorated career with Southampton, Tottenham, Real Madrid, and LAFC. The Welshman has long expressed a desire to own and transform Cardiff City, calling it “a dream come true” in his earlier interviews. Despite never playing for the Bluebirds, he hopes to lead the club back into the Premier League after their relegation from the Championship last season.
The Welsh club are currrently under the management of Brian Barry-Murphy. Under his reign, Cardiff City are preparing for their first season in the third tier since 2002-03 after finishing bottom of the Championship. Malaysian businessman Tan has owned Cardiff since 2010 and has invested over £200 million during his tenure but is understood to have little interest in selling.
Cardiff City has not yet publicly commented on the latest offer from Bale’s consortium.
