With Failed Moves for Luis Diaz and Nico Williams, Barca Turn Focus to Man United Star.
Barcelona have reportedly made Marcus Rashford their top attacking priority this summer. As a boost, head coach Hansi Flick has also given his approval for the move. The Manchester United forward is seeking a fresh start away from Old Trafford.
He showed interest in the move before and now a switch to Camp Nou appears increasingly likely. According to multiple reports, Rashford has emerged as Barcelona’s preferred left-wing target after failed pursuits of Luis Diaz and Nico Williams.

Barca are expected to push for a deal and are “prepared to go all-in” after Liverpool rejected their move for Luis Díaz and Nico Williams renewed with Athletic Bilbao, according to Sky Germany 🇩🇪⏳ pic.twitter.com/EmiTEy7VGe
Diaz remains at Liverpool following two rejected approaches. Meanwhile Williams, who Barcelona were pushing for with all their force, signed a new long-term contract with Athletic Club. Spanish journalist Matteo Moretto reported that Flick has urged Barca’s hierarchy to push ahead with a deal for Rashford.
However, Barca are favouring a loan move with an option to buy next summer. The club are keen to bolster their attack after missing out on key targets. Now they see the 27-year-old England international as the ideal addition alongside Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.

Rashford spent the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. He has made it no secret that he wants to play in LaLiga. He is reportedly willing to lower his wage demands to secure the move. It’s also no secret that he has also fallen out of favour at Manchester United.
Rashford is currently training alone at Carrington. He is using the medical and rehab facilities, after Manchester United delayed his return to pre-season with Ruben Amorim’s squad. His No.10 shirt has already been handed to the Red Devils’ new signing Matheus Cunha.

Despite Flick agreeing, Barcelona’s tight financial parameters remain a significant obstacle. The Catalan giants are exploring creative ways to structure the deal. This includes a potential wage-sharing agreement with United.
Rashford’s £300,000-a-week salary could otherwise scupper any immediate move. His willingness to lower his salary could help but Bayern Munich have also been linked with the Englishman. Even so, Barcelona’s interest is described as “serious” and talks are expected to intensify over the coming few weeks.
