Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman was absent from the lineup for a second consecutive game on Tuesday after suffering an unfortunate injury at home. Freeman slipped while stepping into his guest bathroom’s tub shower on Sunday morning, aggravating his surgically repaired right ankle. The 2024 World Series MVP had been using the guest bathroom due to a leak in his main shower when the mishap occurred.

Despite initial concerns, X-rays on the ankle came back clean, and Freeman has been undergoing three hours of daily treatment in an effort to speed up his recovery. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed the injury caused swelling, and while the team hoped to avoid using Freeman on Tuesday, he was not officially ruled out.

Will Freddie Freeman Play Tonight?

The 34-year-old first baseman remains day-to-day, with a tentative return targeted for Wednesday’s series finale. However, Freeman suggested the team may opt for additional rest, holding him out until Friday’s game in Philadelphia to ensure he is fully recovered.

Freeman acknowledged the team will likely push for him to wait until Friday, considering the east coast travel to Philadelphia.

This is not the first time Freeman has had to carefully manage his right ankle. The veteran slugger had already been working through some discomfort, along with minor rib issues, when the latest setback occurred.
