Flavio Cobolli vs. Yoshihito Nishioka Head-to-Head, Prediction, and Betting Odds for ATP Citi DC Open 2025 Second Round

Rudra Dubey

In-Form Cobolli Faces Crafty Lefty Nishioka in the Second Round Clash of the Washington.

Ninth seed Flavio Cobolli will face unseeded Yoshihito Nishioka today in the second round of the Citi DC Open. While Cobolli received a bye as one of the top seeds, Nishioka battled past Jenson Brooksby in three sets. The winner of this clash will go on to face either Aleksandar Kovacevic or sixth seed Frances Tiafoe in the next round.

Cobolli enters amid a breakout season, having surged to a career-high ranking of No. 18. The Italian has already lifted two ATP titles this year, beating Sebastian Baez in Bucharest and Andrey Rublev in Hamburg, both in straight sets. He also made quarterfinal runs in Phoenix, Turin, Halle, and Wimbledon, where he took a set off Novak Djokovic. Across the season, he has fired 155 aces and won 68% of his first-serve points, along with a 38% break point conversion rate.

Nishioka, meanwhile, has endured a difficult season, with his only notable showing coming in Dallas, where he upset Tiafoe before falling to Casper Ruud in the quarters. The Japanese lefty has hit 34 aces, won 71% of his first-serve points, and boasts a 47% break point conversion rate, but from far fewer opportunities (43).

My journey into sports media began far from the field, rooted in the arts and sciences. Funny enough, I didn’t grow up a sports fan; I used to see it all as just noise. But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
