Fever vs. Sun: Indiana Fever Suffer Tight Loss to Connecticut Sun, Injury Woes Deepen As Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham Go Down

Without Caitlin Clark and with injuries mounting, the Indiana Fever dropped a second consecutive game

Without Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever is looking average at best, and Friday’s loss proved just how much they rely on her presence. Clark is expected to miss plenty more games for the Indiana-based side.

The Fever suffered a second straight loss in the absence of Caitlin Clark. The latest one came against the Connecticut Sun. The hosts and the Sun went neck-to-neck in the first quarter. Indiana Fever emerged on top with a 23-21 1st quarter lead.

However, the Sun led by Marina Mabrey stormed back with a half-time lead. Their second quarter score remained 22-16. While the 2nd half performance by both the teams led the Fever vs. Sun game to a thrilling ending on Friday.

Connecticut Sun carried their momentum in the third quarter, striking crucial points in the beginning stage. This set them for a larger lead, banking on their first half performance. While, the Indiana Fever just had 20 points in the whole quarter.

The hosts did overcome their huge deficit in the final 10 minutes of the game. However, their resurgence was a tad bit late as Connecticut Sun won the game by a bare margin of two points. A little more efficiency in the offense could have prevented Fever’s 83-85 loss on Friday.

Injuries Worsen Fever’s Narrow Loss

Indiana Fever are running out of luck very fast as their injury list keeps on growing. After losing Caitlin Clark early this week, Fever are set to lose a couple of stars as well. The Friday night game against the Connecticut Sun proved to be a disastrous one for the hosts.

Sydney Colson exited the Fever vs. Sun game in the first quarter itself due to a left leg injury. This paved the way for more Sophie Cunningham minutes. However, giving a major blow to the roster, even she went down and left the game.

With the fourth quarter clock at 6:05 mark, the star player went down catching her right ankle. She was in visible pain, due to which the medical staff rushed to the court. It looked serious as she couldn’t put weight on her right leg and had to be helped off.
