Winner faces Khachanov or Bergs in the R16.
After returning to form in Stuttgart last week, Felix Auger-Aliassime will aim to build on his positive form when he takes on Laslo Djere in the 2025 Terra Wortmann Open Round of 32 on Tuesday. The Serbian has the edge over Felix in the rivalry, but could potentially face difficulties in maintaining his 100% record in Halle.
It has been a tale of two halves for Felix Auger-Aliassime in 2025 thus far. The Canadian started the year by winning titles at the Adelaide International and Open Occitanie. He also had a great Middle Eastern swing – reaching the semifinal in Doha and final in Dubai. However, he won only one match in his next six tournaments. With only one win at the Grand Slams this year, he will be hoping to turn it around at Wimbledon.
Unlike his Round of 32 opponent, Djere is yet to win a grass court encounter this season. He also has an inferior win rate (62.5%) on service games in comparison to Auger-Aliassime (86%) on this surface. The 30-year-old had encouraging runs in Barcelona and Rome, before they were cut short by five-time major champion Carlos Alcaraz. The World No. 65 has a win-loss record of 12-6 in 2025.
Laslo Djere has a 2-0 head to head record against Felix Auger-Aliassime. They have not faced each other in six years.
Both meetings between the competitors took place in Brazil. In the 2019 final in Rio, Djere overcame Auger-Aliassime in straight sets. The duo clashed again in the South American nation at São Paulo. Despite dropping a set on this occasion, the Serbian still managed to emerge victorious. Tuesday’s Round-1 encounter will be the first time they face off outside of clay.

Felix Auger-Aliassime falls in the semi-finals in Stuttgart🇨🇦🌿

The Canadian had a great day on serve, conceding only two break points to his opponent, Taylor Fritz. However, Fritz converted one, which made the match's only difference. 🎾
Still, tennis fans surely enjoyed that… pic.twitter.com/TZzKRvmGsD
The grass courts at the Terra Wortmann Open are naturally much faster than the clay courts where Djere previously beat Felix. Moreover, the Canadian has accumulated bucketloads of experience over the years. With past wins over the likes of Roger Federer, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas on this surface, FAA starts as the firm favourite.
Prediction: Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets.
Auger-Aliassime is the predicted winner of this match in terms of the betting market. Here are the odds:
Felix Auger-Aliassime Win: -260
Laslo Djere Win: +220
