Fastest Serie A Player Joins Premier League Side

The Premier League has welcomed another fresh injection of pace as Jackson Tchatchoua, the fastest player in Serie A last season, has completed a move from Hellas Verona. The 23-year-old Cameroon international has officially joined Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers on a five-year contract in a deal worth €12.5m (£10.8m).

Tchatchoua began his career with Belgian side Charleroi before moving to Verona in 2023, initially on loan. He impressed enough to earn a permanent deal and went on to feature in 36 of 38 Serie A matches last season. Across the campaign, he registered two goals and three assists, while standing out for his recovery runs and marauding play down the right flank.

Wolves Add Blistering Pace With Tchatchoua Signing

Capable of operating as a right-back or wing-back, Tchatchoua clocked an average top speed of 34.88 km/h in Serie A, while hitting a peak of 36.3 km/h. His arrival at Wolves follows Nelson Semedo’s departure, with the club moving swiftly to secure a long-term replacement. Tchatchoua becomes the fifth addition of a busy transfer window for Wolves.

The defender’s blistering pace has drawn comparisons with some of the quickest in European football. Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven remains the Premier League’s speed king with a top speed of 37.1 km/h last season, but Tchatchoua’s numbers highlight the raw athleticism he will bring to the English top flight.

Wolves have already completed permanent moves for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen (£23m), winger Jhon Arias (£15m), forward Fer Lopez (£19m) and defender David Moller Wolfe (£10m). Wolves see Tchatchoua as both a replacement for Semedo and a long-term project. His energy, versatility, and pace are expected to slot seamlessly into their system, offering both defensive solidity and an attacking outlet on the flanks.
