England World Cup Qualifiers Campaign Off To A Flyer With Consecutive Wins Under Thomas Tuchel

England have begun their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign perfectly. They’ve won both of their opening fixtures under new coach Thomas Tuchel. After an initial 2-0 win over Albania, the Three Lions followed up with a convincing 3-0 win against Latvia.

After securing maximum points, the Three Lions have taken an early lead in Group K. With their qualifying campaign off to a strong start, England will now regroup for their next set of fixtures set to be held in June. Tuchel is aware of the need for continuous improvement.

Promising Start Under Thomas Tuchel

Taking over after Gareth Southgate’s departure, Tuchel has expressed his satisfaction with the performances so far. However, even with the comfortable scorelines, the Three Lions’ performances showed that they still need work. The first half against Latvia was particularly frustrating.

The team struggled to break down their well-organized defense. However, Tuchel’s side showed resilience throughout until they wore down their opponents to score the winning goals. Kane equaled Billy Wright’s record of 105 England caps in these two matches. He also acknowledged that the team is slowly improving.

What’s Next for England?

Tuchel will use the next few months to assess his squad further. England have looked solid defensively but they need more attacking flair, so that remains a work in progress. England will face Andorra away in another qualifier before hosting Senegal in a friendly in June.

The Three Lions are pushing toward World Cup qualification with determination. Their challenge note is to maintain the momentum from these two wins. If they can do that while refining their style ahead of tougher tests, they can keep a hold of their top spot in their group.
