Carlo Ancelotti confirmed to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season bid an emotional goodbye to the fans in his pre-match conference. Facing Real Sociedad at Santiago Bernabeu as his final game, the Italian manager reflected on the glorious journey as he is bound to coach the Brazil National Squad next.

Calling his final game at the Bernabeu a ‘beautiful day’, Ancelotti thanked every member of the club for the support. From the non-coaching staff to the chefs, the 65-year-old made sure to express gratitude to every contributor at Real Madrid in his final pre-match conference.

“I Have No Problem in Shedding a Tear, I Won’t Hide That”: Ancelotti’s Emotional Goodbye

Ancelotti began his second stint at Real Madrid in 2021. Shaping big game players like Vinicius Jr., Fede Valverde and Jude Bellingham, they won two La Liga and two UCL titles in the past five years or so.

As the Los Blancos veteran Luka Modric will also bid his farewell to Real Madrid, Ancelotti talked about sharing the stage with him on the final day of the La Liga 2024/25 season. Talking about Modric and how he could shed a tear against Real Sociedad, Ancelotti in his pre-match conference said:

“I’m an emotional guy, just like my father and grandfather were. I have no problem in shedding a tear, I won’t hide that. It’s going to be a special day and I’ll be sharing it with Modrić, who has been a wonderful support for me in this period. He’s a fantastic player and a legend. I think it’s beautiful to say goodbye alongside him.”

“The pride comes from having coached this club, winning titles and going down in history. That was the goal when I started here back in 2013. Having been able to do that, the only way to say goodbye was with the same affection I have for the club and the affection they have always shown me.”

Ancelotti has managed over 300 games for Real Madrid with a win percentage of around 70%. Having won multiple titles, Ancelotti when asked how would he like to be remembered said: “As a good coach, but time will tell in that sense. I still feel so much affection and that makes me incredibly happy.”

Ancelotti will head to Brazil next week as he called the new chapter of his life ‘challenging’. He also mentioned being grateful for the chance of joining a national squad and avoiding the feeling of betraying Real Madrid by joining any other club.

Real Madrid who will go Trophyless in the 2024/25 season is aiming for some big changes. With Xabi Alonso taking over and some recruitments in order, the Los Blancos will also head into the Club World Cup 2025 as the new chapter in the Spanish capital.
