Ecuador vs Brazil Head-to-Head Record: Stats, History & Latest Results

Carlo Ancelotti begins his reign as Brazil manager with a challenging trip to face high-flying Ecuador in Guayaquil on Thursday. The Italian tactician replaced Dorival Junior, only a few weeks ago. Dorival Jr. was dismissed after Brazil’s humiliating 4-1 loss to Argentina in March.

Despite an underwhelming campaign, Brazil sit securely inside the top six of CONMEBOL qualifying. That is, largely thanks to a solid run prior to March. However, Brazil’s visit to second-placed Ecuador is no easy start for the former Real Madrid coach.

La Tricolor have been exceptional, even after starting with a three-point deduction. They’ve amassed 26 points on the pitch and are currently unbeaten at home. They’ve conceded just two goals in seven matches. Ecuador’s defensive discipline and consistency under coach Sebastian Beccacece have made them strong.

They are now firm favourites to book a second straight World Cup ticket. With the pressure eased on Brazil following qualification, Ancelotti has room to implement his philosophy. However, doing so against Ecuador’s rigid structure will be no simple task for the Italian tactician.

Brazil coach Ancelotti will have to deal with a few injuries and sickness as Rodrygo, Neymar, and several Premier League regulars are set to miss. Ancelotti promised a Madrid-style football upon arrival. Even so, Vinicius Junior is the only Real Madrid player included. Marquinhos has returned fresh from European glory. Meanwhile absentees include Endrick, Gabriel Magalhaes, Joao Pedro, and Eder Militao.
