Brazil vs Ecuador: CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifier Preview, Injuries & Lineups

Brazil will play their first game under new head coach Carlo Ancelotti against Ecuador. As they find themselves in the mud in the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers, Ancelotti will look to turn things around facing second-placed Ecuador. 

Managing four wins of their last 10, Brazil dropped crucial points against Argentina the last time out. Ecuador is unbeaten in seven games as Brazil alongside Argentina the only two opponents they’ve lost to since July 2024. Rodrygo Goes scored the winner the last time these two sides met as Brazil won 1-0 in July 2024. 

Brazil Injury News 

Brazil will miss out on big names like Neymar Jr, Rodrygo and Eder Militao sidelined due to injuries. Other than that, Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson will also not be available for Ancelotti against Ecuador. 

In the players returning to fitness report Casemiro and Vinicius Junior will be available against Ecuador. Ancelotti to expected to start with Allison in goals as Marquinhos and Alessandro Ribeiro as centre-backs.  

Ecuador Injury News 

Ecuador will come into the clash with some players in doubt to appear against Brazil. Reports indicate Enner Valencia trained separately from the main squad during preparations. Moreover, Gonzalo Plata and Leonardo Campana are also questionable for the World Cup qualifier. 

Moises Caicedo and William Pacho are expected to make a start despite the injury concerns. Their top-tier players will look to help Ecuador stay on winning terms and extend their lead against Uruguay.

FC Barcelona’s best player of the season Raphinha will have the spotlight in Ancelotti’s first game in charge. Having a stellar record with over 50 G/A in all competitions this season, the Brazilian will hope to lift his country’s position on the standing against Ecuador. 

Moises Caicedo 

Chelsea’s defensive midfielder is been the talk of the summer leading the Blues to Champions League qualification. Playing the most games for Enzo Maresca’s side this season, Caicedo has proven his worth as he will look to help his country now. 

Antony  

Since his loan move to Real Betis, Antony has flourished in La Liga. Having a consistent contribution throughout 2025, Antony also received his Brazil call-up for the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers. He will expected to start from the right for Brazil against Ecuador.
