NHL 25 introduces Women’s League, 4 Nations Face-Off, and NHL Arcade in the game’s biggest update rollout yet
EA Sports is introducing three significant updates for NHL 25, which the publisher describes as the most feature-rich updates ever released in a brief period in the history of sports games. The women’s league is making its debut in full within EA Sports’ NHL game, 4 Nations Face-Off will replace the NHL All-Star game in 2025, and a new casual mode named NHL Arcade will be released shortly.
Check out our NHL Arcade coverage for additional details. Still, the essence is that this mode discards all statistics and realism for a format that anyone can easily engage with and enjoy. NHL Arcade will be available on November 15, 2024, for all platforms as a complimentary update.
“Our partnership with EA Sports opens new doors to elevate women’s hockey across all levels, Through this alliance, we’ll develop in-game and out-of-game experiences that strengthen the bond between our teams, players, and fans, bringing the PWHL closer to the global hockey community.” : said Amy Scheer, PWHL’s senior vice president of business operations, said in a statement.

On December 5, 2024, the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) will hit the ice for the first time in the franchise’s history with all six teams: the Boston Fleet, Minnesota Frost, New York Sirens, Ottawa Charge, and Toronto Scepters.
You can enjoy all of them in Play Now, Online Versus, Shootout, and Season modes, and you’ll also have the opportunity to compete in The Walter Cup. EA also highlighted enhanced body models due to their new SAPIEN technology, which portrays women’s league players distinctly instead of relying on male player models as a foundation.
GLHF inquired with senior producer Chris Haluke about the lengthy wait for the complete women’s league to emerge in the NHL. Haluke expressed his enthusiasm for the latest update and EA’s continued dedication to showcasing women’s sports.
The third significant update occurs in 2025, when the 4 Nations Face-Off replaces NHL All Stars, aligning with the real-life league’s intentions. The top athletes from Finland, Canada, Sweden, and the U.S. hit the ice to determine the champion, and you’ll notice this mode extends into HUT, Shootout, Play Now, and Online Versus.
