The milestone came in his 659th game, making him the fourth-fastest player in NHL history to achieve the feat.
At just 27 years old, McDavid joins a legendary list of players, including Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, and Mike Bossy, who reached this mark in fewer games.
The pivotal moment occurred when Connor McDavid buried a one-timer from a pinpoint pass by longtime teammate Leon Draisaitl.
The assist came from Darnell Nurse, another core member of the Oilers since McDavid’s rookie season. Fittingly, all three players have weathered the highs and lows of the franchise together, and the significance of the occasion wasn’t lost on them or the 18,347 fans in attendance.

“It’s special to share this moment with teammates who’ve been here through the good and bad,” McDavid reflected post-game.
His father, Brian McDavid, was also present to witness the historic achievement, adding an emotional layer to the night. “You dream of moments like this,” said McDavid, who also assisted on Nurse’s game-winning goal with a dazzling no-look backhand pass.
Since being drafted first overall in 2015, Connor McDavid has redefined hockey excellence. His unmatched speed, vision, and skill make him the most dominant player of his era.
“It’s his commitment to defense and all-around play that stands out,” said Nurse. McDavid’s dedication to improvement continues to set him apart, as evidenced by his five Art Ross Trophies, three Hart Trophies, and Conn Smythe win.
Draisaitl, McDavid’s running mate and one of the NHL’s top players himself, summed up the sentiment:
“If not him, who else?” he replied. “I never bet against Connor McDavid — I have learned that over the last 10 years. It wouldn’t surprise me.”
