Duke’s Cooper Flagg named ACC Player of the Year

Cooper Flagg made history by winning the ACC Player of the Year award in his freshman year.

The Duke star, Cooper Flagg dominated the ACC post-season awards. Flagg won multiple Player of the Year awards and made the All-Defensive team. Cooper Flagg was named the 2024-25 ACC Player of the Year, receiving 76 of the 81 votes. The forward was also named the 2024-25 ACC Rookie of the Year, receiving 79 of the 81 votes.

Cooper Flagg made history by winning the ACC Player of the Year award in his freshman year. Only four players and all from Duke have won the ACC Player of the Year in their freshman years.

The freshman led Duke to the best conference record (19-1) with a clean sweep of the arch-rivals, North Carolina. He ended the regular season averaging 19.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. In doing so, Flagg became the only player in the conference to finish top-10 in all major stat categories.

Flagg also made the All-ACC first team and the All-ACC Defensive team. He missed out on the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award and was beaten by Chucky Hepburn of Louisville.

Cooper Flagg’s odds of becoming the no.1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft

Cooper Flagg is considered as one of the most complete prospects in recent years. Multiple NBA teams have been tanking to get the young superstar. However, Flagg has the option to decide whether to return back to Duke or join the NBA.
