Draymond Green Proposes NBA to Make Big Change, Calls League to Change Scheduling Problem

The Warriors star talked about LeBron James, who needed a break before the playoffs.

The Golden State Warriors ended their playoff journey with a second-round series defeat against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The series loss came after Steph Curry went down with an injury in Game 1. Injuries have played a major role in the NBA team’s fortune in the pursuit of championship. Draymond Green now came up with a new idea for the NBA.

The 81-game season becomes pretty hectic for the players and this season, we saw major injuries. Tatum’s injury for the Celtics and Haliburton’s injury for the Pacers in the playoff campaign made a huge impact. Haliburton got injured in Game 7’s opening quarter and it hurt Pacers to fight against the in-form OKC Thunder. Draymond Green wants to change the NBA scheduling and he is not in favour of playing 81 games in a season.

Draymond Green Proposes NBA to Short the Season to Keep Players Fresh for Playoffs

Draymond Green saw his team struggling through injuries and eventually, the major setback came during the playoffs. What if Curry was not injured in Game 1? The series result would have been different. Lakers superstar LeBron James wanted a month off before the postseason. It means, the fatigue remains a major concern for the NBA players.

Green, the four-time NBA champion, came up with a proposal for how the league can change the scheduling problem which has been discussed by many experts and players.

“I don’t know that it’s necessarily a rule that I care most about; I would shorten the season. I just think it’s too many games, and at the speed that the game is played at today,” Green said. “No disrespect to the guys that came before me, but they used to walk the ball up the court. I just think the season is a little long.”

The Warriors star talked about his USA teammate and NBA rivals, LeBron James, who needed a break before the playoffs. Green feels no NBA player can get out of shape in two weeks. He also gave an example of Aaron Gordon, who received a two-day off between playoffs and regular season.

“I know Bron talked about a month off before the playoffs. I don’t know that that’s possible,” Green said. “Guys can get a bit out of shape, and it could have an adverse effect. So I don’t know if a month is the right answer, but ain’t no NBA player getting out of shape in two weeks, but you can get a lot healthier. Aaron Gordon saying two days in between [playoff] games. I agree.”
