Draymond Green injury: What happened to Draymond Green? Latest injury update on Warriors’ star

Garima Ranawat

Green is maintaining an average of 8.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game this season.

The Golden State Warriors recorded their third defeat against the Los Angeles Lakers this season with a 120-112 score-line on Thursday, Feb. 6. The Steve Kerr-led side, who signed forward Jimmy Butler in one of the most surprising trades, were coming on the back of a 131-128 loss against the Jazz.

The Warriors began their 2025 season on a promising note with a 12-3 record. However, things kept getting worse for them and currently, they are reeling on a 25-26 record, hanging on the 11th spot of the Western Conference standings.

The Steve Kerr-managed side were in a desperate need of a win to get back to their momentum after losing the last five out of nine last games. While Stephen Curry came up with a 37-point performance, his efforts went into vain as Lakers icon LeBron James outclassed him and the Warriors with a 42-point show.

Apart from Curry, Buddy Hield and Moses Moody scored 14 points each, while Pat Spencer and Draymond Green could add 13 points each. The Warriors veteran, who has been in and out of the squad due to his injury constraints, was once again seen struggling with a neck injury during the game.

What happened to Draymond Green during the Lakers’ game?

The 34-year-old, who was earlier listed as probable for the Thursday night game, sustained an apparent neck injury during the fourth quarter of the Lakers’ matchup. The injury compelled him to walk to the locker room, after he logged 27 minutes and scored 12 points, three rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block.

However, the injury wasn’t severe as he was soon cleared to get back on the floor for the side. Green finished with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists in 33 minutes of gameplay.

Notably, Green missed seven straight games due to a calf injury that he sustained during the 122-114 win over the Washington Wizards on Jan. 18. He made his comeback during the 112-90 win over the Magic.

Green, who responded with “It will be the perfect fit,” to Butler’s trade to the Warriors, has played a total of 37 games this season. He is maintaining an average of 8.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.

Talking about the Warriors, they will be up against the Chicago Bulls in their next game on Saturday, Feb. 8.
