The NBA trade deadline 2025 is officially behind us and if there is one word that could sum up what happened during the past few days, it would be ‘CRAZY!!!’ Just when the fans were done processing Luka Doncic’s trade to the Lakers and Anthony Davis’ move to the Mavericks, NBA insider Shams Charania dropped another bombshell, Jimmy Butler’s trade.
While Butler’s deal was on the cards from the past few months and almost became evident with his multiple suspensions, the name that acquired him was absolutely unexpected. Butler, a six-time NBA All-Star, moved to the Golden State Warriors to join forces with stars like Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
In fact, the Warriors had to lose too much to gain the services of the former Miami forward. The deal that included the Detroit Pistons, the Raptors and the Utah Jazz as well, saw the Heat get Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson and a first-round pick from the Warriors and Davion Mitchell from Toronto.
However, it seems that Butler has quickly adapted to his new team and is ready to take on the courts in his new #10 jersey. The 35-year-old addressed his first press conference with the Warriors and was asked about his feelings. Butler hilariously expressed his happiness for no more suspensions by the Heat, the franchise he left as the regular-season leader with a total of 13 triple-doubles.

“I think the biggest part was just getting me to be able to play basketball again. I just want to be able to go out there and do what I’ve been doing for a very long time … I’m very, very, very happy that I’m not getting suspended no more,” said Butler as he spoke about his trade.
Not only this, but Butler has already set his eyes on the championship and sent a clear message to the Dubs. “Yo Dub Nation, Just touched down to do this physical. Super excited. Ready to win. Ready to work. Ready to put on a show for y’all. Let’s get it. Championship coming soon,” he said in his first message for the fans.
As Butler made his first media appearance as a Warriors’ member, he reflected on the time he spent with the Florida-based franchise over the duration of five and a half seasons. While things ended on a sour note between the Heat and Butler, the Texas-born made it clear that he has respect for his former side and its people.
Butler said, “I don’t got too many bad things to say about them. They gave me the opportunity. I feel like I did my job to the highest level. I have so much respect for that organization, people that’s running that organization, my former teammates.”
“I’ll always wish them the best… I have alot of love for a lot of people over there. I just want them to know I’m very grateful for the relationships I’ve built and hope to keep for a lifetime,” he continued.
The Golden State Warriors, who recorded a 120-112 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, Feb. 6, will now be up against the Chicago Bulls on Saturday, Feb. 8. Jimmy Butler will be expected to make his debut with the Warriors in the game.
