LeBron James recorded season-high 42 points with 17 rebounds and eight assists.

On Thursday, Feb. 6, the Los Angeles Lakers recorded a clean sweep against the Golden State Warriors by taking them down 120-112 at the Crypto.com Arena. With this the Lakers reached 3-0 against the Warriors this season.

The Lakers were coming on the back of a five-win Grammy road trip, consisting of six matches, whereas the Warriors had recorded a close 131-128 loss against the Utah Jazz in their previous matchup.

Thursday night saw the Lakers icon LeBron James putting on a class-apart show with his season-high 42 points. Not only this, but he combined his 40+ points with 17 rebounds and eight assists, one steal, one block and 6 three pointers to achieve a milestone in the franchise’s history.

LeBron is now the first player in the Lakers history to have 40+ points, 15+ rebounds and 5+ three pointers.

Moreover, by the end of the first half of the game, when the Lakers’ were leading the rivals with a big 20-point margin (69-49), James (23 points, 11 rebound, 5-for-6 from three) had already become the only second player after Luka Doncic to have a single half with 20+ points, 10+ rebounds, 5+ assists, and 5+ three-pointers.

Austin Reaves came up with 23 points, three rebounds and four assists while Gabe Vincent added five points and one assist. The Lakers were without their newest signing, Luka Doncic, who is nursing his calf injury sustained in December.

On the Warriors’ side, Stephen Curry finished with 37 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Interestingly, it was Curry’s 300th game with 30+ points.

LeBron James joins elite company of Michael Jordan for another historic feat

LeBron James’ record for the franchise wasn’t the only feather in the cap he added on Thursday night. He joined NBA legend Michael Jordan as the only players to score 40 points at the age of 40, and is now the oldest player to do so. Jordan became the first player of the club when he scored 43 points for the Wizards during the clash against the Nets in 2003.

Notably, as the Lakers outclassed the Warriors on Feb. 6, they improved their record to 30-19 in 49 games this season. The Lakers are now at the fifth spot in the Western Conference, and will be up against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday.
