On Sunday, Team World defeated reigning champions Team Europe with a statement 15-9 scoreline. Led by the legendary Andre Agassi, who brought his unmatched energy as well as tactical efficiency to the table, the men in red turned the tables to capture the 2025 Laver Cup. Post the titanic triumph, the eight-time Grand Slam champion made a hilarious request to World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz.

One of the common talking points about Team World was Agassi’s positive attitude and freakishly high energy. The 55-year-old was constantly on his feet and cheering his team towards success. During his time as a player, the American icon grabbed 60 career singles championships, alongside 1 doubles trophy. He is a three-time Davis Cup winner and managed to cap off a mind-boggling career by winning the gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

“The common theme that I took away from this group is how confident they are in what they can do on a tennis court,” said the former World No. 1 about Team World. The week of highs included two magnificent wins for Taylor Fritz – who beat the No. 1 and No. 3 ranked players on consecutive nights. “It’s not delusional. It can be delusional, but it was amazing to watch their calm. What I learned is to try and do more listening than talking, and try to stay out of their way.”

While Andre Agassi is a certified legend of the sport, there is no doubt that Carlos Alcaraz is slowly but surely rising to the occasion too. The 2025 campaign has been particularly fruitful for the 22-year-old Spaniard – he has won seven titles so far – and reached eight consecutive tour-level finals. Now a six-time Grand Slam champion after winning the US Open 2025, he is well and truly on the right path to superstardom. But here’s what Agassi had to say to Alcaraz about his current dominance.

“Carlos, don’t be so greedy with all the Grand Slams. Share some with your brothers, for God’s sake,” joked the Team World skipper. Alcaraz and Sinner have split the last eight majors between them – across 2024 and 2025. “I want to say to Team Europe, it is such an honor to sit on the side and watch you guys do what you do. It is remarkable and I love every second of it. I wish you the brightest futures,” he continued.

Andre Agassi and Team World will return to defend their coveted crown at London’s O2 Arena in 2026.
